PARTICLE is a software package for single-particle EM image processing. It provides an integrated computing environment with comprehensive data analysis functions for particle selection, particle classification, 3D
reconstruction and model evaluation. Notable features of the package include a direct method for alignment-free 2D classification, streamlined RCT & tomographic reconstruction and intuitive Visual Scripting for high-throughput image processing.
PARTICLE has been designed for users with all levels of experience in image analysis: while an expert is able to fine-tune the procedure and parameters for an image-processing task, a novice can rely on the program itself for a proper setup. Moreover, PARTICLE can be utilized as an educational platform for users to learn and practice single-particle EM data processing. A test dataset has been included in the software distribution for demonstration and exercise.
